* The Bishop of Blackburn has issued advice in the light of the Coronavirus outbreak. The clergy are asked to use hand gel prior to distributing Holy Communion. Congregation members are reminded that it is perfectly acceptable to receive the consecrated bread only, if you are concerned about passing on any infection or do not wish to receive from the chalice. Expert advice is that intinction is not considered any safer in preventing the spread of disease and remains officially discouraged.
* A variety of resources for Lent are available today, please help yourself to copies of Lent Extra and the Church of England booklet Live Lent, focussing on care for God’s creation.
* Details of this year’s lent Study Course ‘Superstar’ are now available. There will be two groups on Wednesday afternoon and evening, both of which will meet at St.Martin’s and St.Hilda’s. Please return completed forms and the course fee of £5 to the Vicar. The course celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the ground breaking show Jesus Christ Superstar and helps us explore the themes of that show which remain as relevant as ever.
* We have now purchased new hymn books which will come into use when we return to the Church in March. Please look out for details of how to sponsor a copy - Words Edition £12.50 Music Edition £30.
